Solusi Student Honoured at Megafest
Solusi University, English and Communication student, Catherine Mutsau recently scored big by being voted the first runner-up for Female Manager for the year 2016, at a ceremony held recently in Harare.
Ms Mutsau was honoured at Megafest, an annual event hosted to honour top corporates, institutions and individuals who are impacting the nation.
The Megafest runner up is a final year student at Solusi University and Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) manager for Industry Relations, a unit of the national authority tasked with customer relationship management and also a mother of three girls. She says the award was a pleasant surprise and she is grateful for the national recognition.
“I am honoured to have received this accolade and am truly humbled that people noticed my hard work especially being a woman in a corporate world that is dominated by men”, said an ecstatic Ms Mutsau.
Ms Mutsau believes that the academic rigour of the English and Communication programme at Solusi University coupled with the Christian philosophy of the institution makes her a better professional.
“The analytic skills emphasised by the English and Communication degree program, the Christian principles and values instilled in me as a student at Solusi have kept me going and helped me make very important decisions in my day to day running of the office” said Ms. Mutsau while speaking on the influence that her education at Solusi has had in her professional life.
Cathy (as she is known to her friends) was full of praise from her friends and family whom she believes have been instrumental in making her a nationally recognised manager.
“My friends keep me strong. I would not be where I am without them. My dad holds a Doctorate in Business Management and he values education so you can only imagine the pressure I am under to reach his level. My family and friends are a pillar.”, she said.
“My colleagues at Zimbabwe Tourism Authority deserve special mention for supporting me and allowing me opportunity to be the best I can be.”, she added.
“ZTA is endowed with good leaders who encourage us to better our education and succeed in our personal capacities and I am grateful to management for allowing me time off to pursue my studies at Solusi”, she said.
Meanwhile, Solusi University was nominated in the Training Institution of the Year category at the same event an element which shows that Solusi is still a force in the Higher and Tertiary Education sector.
